Oru Kallukudiyante Cheapness……..

A sad story
Of a Mad Man
With a Bad Plan
.

Every human being is half evil and half good….. It is the side which projects that decides his personality…

Thursday 11th June
It was six ‘o’ clock and he was tired of his job. He hated the job but still continued doing it for a living but not for a life. As it was Thursday he felt better because the next day he was going to his native place. His better half who also works in the same office left home early. Usually they go together but on that day unfortunately he had some work, so he needed to sit an hour or two. As soon as she went, his evil side started working, he was longing for a drink in such working conditions.
Life is all about choices and he decided to analyze on his choices:
1) Do the work , Go home and be a good husband
2) Stop the work ,and relax with your friends

He gave 70 % weight age for the second choice. He packed up his work early and started to leave the office .His mind was switching between the choices and finally he called his better half and told that he will be late, hence he may go to his friends house. His mind was almost made up for the choice for having a drink.
But still something inside his mind was telling that he was making the wrong choice. His first warning was when his watch stopped. Outside it was not raining, so he started his scooter and moved towards his friends house. After sometime he felt that there was something wrong with the back tire of the scooter, he still carried on thinking that the air might be less.
He reached his friends house and his better half called to confirm his status. When he told that he was in his friend’s house already, she got the message of what is going to happen. She angrily kept the phone. He called her back but she did not pick up the phone. After sometime she called him, then as a defense statement he told that he decided this plan now only. She became angry and said ‘This is cheapness, a drunkard’s cheapness (oru Kallukudiyante Cheapness). We were waiting for you and you made a fool of us, tomorrow I m not coming to your native place with you ,You can go alone after keeping the scooter back at my house. Do whatever you want, don’t count me in.’
After hearing this he got the answer, he knew he had made the wrong choice and made a fool of himself. He felt like a small kid getting caught for bunking the school. He could see his shadow on the walls of the house, the shadow of an irresponsible man. He tried to console her but it was not possible, the only word he could utter properly was ‘Sorry’.
The night was not so good; even though he boozed with his friends he knew something was not right. The thought of having committed a crime was lurking in his mind. As he slept he knew that the next day would be a challenging day.

Friday Jun12 – Challenging day
He got up early morning and thought he will go to the office early and complete his work soon. He got ready and as he started the scooter, he felt as if he was being pulled back by somebody. Then he saw that his tire was punctured. He knew he got the punishment. He pushed the vehicle for about a kilometer and changed the tires. As he came to the office all wet and soaked like every other day a guy wished him good morning, but already he knew that it was a bad morning.
He knew very well that today he did not have choices; he had to face the day. And he walked to his seat hoping to survive the challenging day.
Moral: Don’t let the evil half eat up your good half, have a control on it.
